The Buttonwood/Betty C. Black Recreation Area is located at the end of Hull Prairie Road on the Maumee River, just north of River Road (State Route 65) in Perrysburg, Ohio. Buttonwood is an extremely popular fishing location during the annual spring Walleye and White Bass Migration period from mid-March through May.

Buttonwood is also the location of the Wood County Park District's only camping facility, a primitive campground open seasonally from March through October and available on a first-come first-served basis. Self-registration is on-site at the kiosk information panel.

PRIMITIVE CAMPING means no electricity, no water, and no sewage dump. These spots were designed for tent camping, for which they are ideal. However, motor homes and campers are fine. A 31-foot-motor home will fit.

Fees: $10.00 per primitive site per night. First-come first-served. Quiet time: 10:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. Ranger-patrolled.

The GROUP CAMPING AREA for Scouts is available by group permit and reservation only. Please call Park District Headquarters for more information at (800) 321-1897 toll-free in Wood County; otherwise (419) 353-1897. Scouting groups who use the group camping area are asked to provide cleanup of the river or some other project for the Park District.

PLEASE NOTE: there is no group camping during Perrysburg soccer season as this area is used by local soccer groups, or during the Pow Wow at the end of September/beginning of October.

Other amenities Include:
  • Picnic tables
  • Large multi-purpose playfield used seasonally in the spring and fall by area soccer leagues
  • Hiking Trails
  • Restrooms
