WOOD COUNTY PARKS IN EVERY SEASON!

Of course you know that there are always things to do outside - fall, winter, spring and summer -
even in a park, and especially in the parks and preserves of the Wood County Park District
in Northwest Ohio.
For one thing, parks and preserves look different as seasons change, and when you venture out to them you open yourself to myriad close encounters with nature, wildlife, and yes, people.
If you teach yourself to listen and observe, you will encounter the treasures earth holds for you and gradually come to enjoy the magical adventures available any time of year in your Wood County Parks.

DID YOU KNOW?

Hungry animals that have once tasted an adult monarch butterfly leave others alone. The adult's bad taste comes from special chemicals in the milkweed that the caterpillar ate.
In an ant colony, ants communicate by tapping their antennae together.
A ground squirrel usually loses about 80% of its body weight while hibernating.
Recycling a stack of newspaper which is 3.3 feet tall will save a 11.5 foot tree.
Your nose can sense smell best when your are 10 years old. That's probably why kids notice gross smells faster than adults.
Bees communicate by making special dance movements. When a new source of pollen has been found, a bee will spread the good news by doing a special dance. For instance, if a bee dances in a circular motion then it means that food can be found nearby.
