Purchased from Brown University in 1993, the 124-acre preserve is a mix of woodlands, grasslands and wetlands.  No established trails exist allowing visitors the opportunity to explore this jewel in a more natural state.  Baldwin Woods is one of two areas available for hunting through a "Hunting with Permission Program" overseen by the Ranger Department.

Baldwin Woods Preserve is closed to the public during hunting days.

HUNTING DAYS for the 2012-2013 season are as follows:

  • September 1 through October 31 – Wednesday, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays ONLY (No hunting on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday).
  • November, December, January, February - Monday through Saturday ONLY (No hunting on Sundays).
  • Our hunting season ends at the end of February to follow the State’s hunting season.

"Just got back from the fun fest and had a wonderful time with my twin 4 year-olds. Games, candy, cider, smores and wagon ride were all wonderful. Thanks so much for a fun, free family event in BG."
