FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 FAQs

The most important thing you can do for yourself and your rental liability is to read your receipt/ rental agreement and rules and regulations carefully.

You can still come in to Park District Headquarters to reserve and pay for rentals by cash or check, but it is riskier, and you could lose your prospective rental date in the meantime. Try to find a family member or friend who can reserve online for you. Remember, payment is required upon booking.

SETTING MEETING TIMES FOR YOUR OTSEGO STONE HALL or HANKISON GREAT ROOM RENTALS at The Nature Center at W.W. Knight Preserve...

  • The Park District does not use keys, so when you are met by staff to open the facility for your rental, you will be given instructions and presented with a check list of rental procedures. This is important information for you as the liable party. It includes how to clean up after your event and close if you finish early; what to do if you must leave for an hour during your rental time; and potential fines for damages or other infringements of the rules.
  • Your opening time is when you will set up the tables and chairs for your event according to your preference.
  • All deliveries, caterers, florists, and equipment must arrive between your set times.
  • Meeting times begin at 10:00 a.m. for Otsego. They begin at 9:00 a.m. for the Hankison Great Room at Knight. Facilities are cleaned prior to these times. If staff are interrupted in their cleaning procedures, the facility will not be ready for your event.
  • To set up the day or night before, you must rent the facility and it must be available. Please call Park District Headquarters if you would like this option and your damage deposit for the extra day will be waived.

GROUP PERMITS. GROUPS of 25 or more people wishing to use our parks, such as the Slippery Elm Trail, Buttonwood, Otsego and so forth, please call Park District Headquarters at (419) 353-1897 to obtain a Group Permit. This will help us schedule our parks to avoid conflicts between large groups using a park on the same day and time.

Did you know?  ALL Friends of the Wood County Parks (FWCP) members receive a 25% discount on all facility rentals, including Otsego Stone Hall and the Great Room at The Nature Center at W.W. Knight Nature Preserve in Perrysburg. This holds true for Wood County residents as well as out-of-county residents. It's a great deal!

 DRIVING DIRECTIONS

The online reservation system allows you to:

  • Check shelter availability and book and pay immediately by credit/ debit card 24 hours a day on any computer anywhere in the world--all online!
  • Reserve a shelter a year-to-the-day in advance. To book a date for December 2007, for example, wait till that date in December 2006. Please have several dates in mind as the chance of getting the "one" date you want can be risky.
These are popular facilities and someone may book online a second before you do, or the Park District may schedule a program or event in the facility you want on the one day you simply have to have!
  • Renters must pay the full basic rental fee upon reserving a shelter. We no longer accept "delayed" mail-in shelter payments.
  • Besides being able to book and pay online, you can still pay by cash or check in person at Park District Headquarters, but you must pay when you book your rental. We will no longer "hold" dates for renters.
  • Reservation cut-off for each month is the 20th of the month prior. (For February, the cut-off is January 20; for March, the cut-off is February 20)
REFUNDS: Damage deposit and full cancellation refunds will be mailed to you from the Wood County Auditor's Office in the month following your rental.

CANCELLATION POLICY: In order to receive a full refund, you must call and cancel at least two (2) weeks prior to your rental. To allow others use of the facility, please cancel a booked rental as soon as you know about it by calling (419) 353-1897 or (800) 321-1897 within Wood County.

All credit card transactions: your credit card will NOT be credited. You will receive a check in the mail from the Wood County Auditors Office. For all cancellations, the Park District will subtract a $5.00 processing fee from your refund amount.

The Mission of Wood County Park District is to preserve, protect, enhance and interpret
the natural and cultural resources of Wood County, while providing quality passive recreational
and educational opportunities to present and future Wood County citizens.
